Taroko National Park

Taroko National Park is one of nine national parks in Taiwan and home to the landmark Taroko Gorge. Sites of the park include Swallow Grotto and Tiansiang.

Tiansiang

One of the most important sites in Taroko, Tiansiang is the starting point of the river valley and offers some of the best overviews of the gorge.

Swallow Grotto

In this section of Taroko valley, countless small holes in the rock walls were created through erosion and became natural habitats for birds. In the past, swallows soared through the air, creating a vision of hundreds of swallows flying in the valley. Thus, the beautiful name “Swallow Grotto” was given.

Fata'an Wetlands

Stroll through the park to enjoy the stunning natural scenery. With mountains and hills in the backdrop and streams of clean water running by your feet, the wetlands are not only picturesque but also home to a diverse range of ecology.

Tainan City

Tainan was one of the first cities in Taiwan. The city was also the first capital, and the center of politics and economy for about 300 years. From this history, an ancient atmosphere has emerged with the most abundant collection of historical buildings & national treasures in all of Taiwan.

Chihkan Tower

Chihkan Tower is a reminder of Tainan's colonial era and period of Dutch occupation dating back to the 1600s.

Fort Zeelandia

Previously a lavish tax department building, this building was remodeled in May 2009 in order to showcase 17th century Zeelandia and its business activities. Today, the exhibit showcases lifestyle, history and development of both Taiwan and Anping.

Lukang (Lugang)

An important point of trade during 18th and 19th centuries, Lukang (Deer Port) is named for its trade of deerskins during the Dutch colonial period. The city remained central Taiwan’s most populous city until the early 20th century. Lukang was named one of the Top 10 Small Tourist Towns by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan for its rich heritage, great food and friendly environment.

Chingjing Farm

With fresh air, stunning blue skies, wide grassy plains, & rolling hills, Chingjing Farm has earned the nickname “the Alps of Taiwan.” In addition to being able to pick the local fruit, special attractions also include the beautiful trails, Swiss Gardens, and the Green Green Grasslands Park where we can see local livestock.

Sun Moon Lake

Hidden in the mountains, Sun Moon Lake is Taiwan's biggest fresh water lake and also a popular honeymoon destination. The lake surrounds Lalu island. The east side of the lake resembles the sun while the west side resembles a moon, hence the lake's name: Sun Moon Lake. The area surrounding the lake has many trails for walking, hiking and biking.

My wife and I took the 10-day Taiwan Island Super Value Tour in early December, 2017. At first, we were a little skeptical because the itinerary was a little confusing and not up to date.  However, all concerns were dismissed by the first day of the tour. Super Value Tours, did not adequately promote the facts that all hotels are 5* and that all meals on the tour are provided at excellent and diverse restaurants. However, what really made the tour a standout was the tour guide, Salome Le. This 26 year old tour guide possesses excellent people skills and is extremely knowledgeable. She is fluent in 4 languages and was an endless source of knowledge about Taiwan. Moreover, her concern and attention to details made the tour run flawlessly. The very few questions that she couldn't answer right away were researched that night and answered the next day. The name of this company, Super Value Tours, Inc. may first appear to be marketing gimmick name, but we found out that this tour group really represents super value in every respect.

Just to let you know that we had such a GREAT time on our Taiwan Island tour.  Too bad it is over so soon!  Everything went smoothly and our small group of 7 enjoyed each other’s company!  The tour definitely far exceeded our expectations.  All the hotels were excellent accommodations and the amount of food we had……..top quality, good varieties and absolutely delicious!  Mike said he would repeat the tour just to eat the food again!!! Most of all Andrew is just TERRIFIC!!  A tour leader can either make or break a tour, he definitely made the tour even more fantastic!
